Background

Our client is a globally recognized vertical eCommerce platform in the hobby-tech and consumer devices industry. With nearly 20 years of international operations, the platform runs a complex global eCommerce: an extensive product catalog, a large active user base, multiple warehouse networks, and deep integrations with logistics providers and ERP systems.

Challenges

As the business scaled, the legacy platform's performance, security, and customization limitations began to constrain growth. The client's platform required virtually every functional module of a full-featured modern eCommerce operation.

Service & Solution

As an Adobe-certified partner with deep Magento expertise, TMO mapped the client's cross-border requirements and adopted a hybrid strategy, combining third-party modules with custom development. We delivered a scalable headless commerce architecture built for global eCommerce operations.

Headless Commerce Architecture & Next.js PWA Frontend

The platform was rebuilt on a headless commerce architecture, with a Next.js Progressive Web App (PWA) as the new frontend, decoupled from Magento 2 via API. Server-side rendering (SSR) accelerates page loads and strengthens search engine visibility, while the architecture ensures a smooth, consistent experience across mobile and desktop for users comparing complex, multi-spec components.

Hybrid Module Strategy & Full eCommerce Feature Coverage

TMO combined third-party modules with custom development to deliver core functionality efficiently and cost-effectively. Advanced features previously requiring a Magento Enterprise license, such as loyalty point logic and dynamic membership tier pricing, were custom-built. This eliminated the ongoing, high licensing fees. The project covered the full spectrum of modern eCommerce: large-scale SKU catalog management, multi-tier loyalty, global payments, multi-warehouse inventory, multi-carrier logistics, ERP integration, GDPR compliance, and cross-border tax handling.

Multi-Warehouse Fulfillment & Differentiated Pricing

A custom multi-warehouse fulfillment system lets customers choose their preferred shipping origin at checkout, with automatic calculation of shipping costs, taxes, and delivery estimates. Paired with a region and membership-tier-based pricing engine, the setup supports localized market strategies and rewards high-frequency buyers. This gives niche electronics enthusiasts a smoother shopping experience and a clearer, more intuitive way to compare and decide when browsing complex components.

Responsive UI/UX Built for Mobile Conversion

Designed around the needs of users comparing complex components across categories, the new interface features streamlined navigation, multi-dimensional filtering, and smart search. Mobile-specific enhancements, including a bottom navigation bar and a floating checkout button, keep core conversion actions always accessible. The platform also auto-detects user regions to recommend language and currency, reducing friction for international shoppers.

Technical SEO Preservation

A parallel technical SEO strategy protected the platform's accumulated search authority, with post-launch monitoring in place to catch and address ranking shifts quickly.
