As we talked about some trends for eCommerce website development in 2015, we all know something new happened this year which we frequently heard can be repeated in detail such as mobile responsive design, minimalist design and so on.

Now 2015 is almost gone. So today let’s keep away from these familiar tactics and talk about some new eCommerce design trends which will probably happen and be able to change the eCommerce industry.

1. Sensing capability of environment

Many years, web pages were not able to understand users comprehensively in terms of the limitation of web technology. But now W3C is already take light, sound, and camera into consideration. That means besides bounce rate, web pages are able to obtain more information.

2. Parallax Scrolling

Parallax scrolling is a technology which is used in 2D games at the beginning. In web design, parallax allow us:

  • Show 3D model
  • Guide visitors
  • Create timelines

A statistic shows that visitors spend 76% of their times on website in scrolling. It’s worth to have a try.

3. Application cache

We all know that speed is one of the most important thing in web design, especially in eCommerce field. But how?

HTML5 introduces application cache, which means that a web application is cached, and accessible without an internet connection. With application cache, it is easy to make an offline version of a web application, by creating a cache manifest file.

4. Intelligent response

Intelligent response means give a response according to visitors’ behaviour. It’s not only responsive layout.

For example, after I finish read an article, it can pop up a form or share buttons. And it can also give a mark where I already read before. It’s convenient to users.

5. Do a 360

Actually, we can make use of many technologies from HTML5. One of them is to embed HTML5 videos which are able to interact with the scene. We can make the site lively by combine camera, sound, scenery and other special effects.
