Poor Mobile User Experience Lead to a Big Loss in Tourism

A research from Jumio shows that there are almost two in  five people will give up booking because of the poor mobile user experience for tourism apps. Compared with other industry, there are only clothing and food industry have a higher abandon rate. Their number are 60% and 41%.

It is estimated that only in England, it lost 2.7 billion pound because of booking abandonment of travelers. Electronic products (30%), financial service (25%) and online games (24%) performed better.

More than half of U.S. smartphone owners (56 percent) have abandoned a mobile transaction, according to a study of 2,019 adult American consumers, which was sponsored by Jumio and conducted by Harris Interactive.

Around one third of mobile users have ever complain about the speed of apps. and the report from Jumio also said that 27% of consumers will continue booking in their PC if they failed booking in apps. And 22% of consumers will try one more time on their mobile devices.

For tourism, register an account makes it less likely to abandon booking. Because they have to take careful consideration, especially in financial field. And the app must be safe enough and convenient to use in terms of generate more bookings.

In addition, male consumers have more patience than females for their mobile devices. About three-quarters of them will try one more time for the transaction. And the rate of female is only 63%.
